Multi-Platinum Producer · Engineer · Mixer · Strategic Partner
Three decades of catalog work behind the console — and a worldview built around records that build careers, not just stream counts.

For more than three decades, Chris Steinmetz has been quietly shaping the sound of American music from behind the console — multi-platinum credits, legendary clients, and a reputation for being the engineer that other engineers call when the record absolutely has to be right.
Chris's catalogue spans genre and generation: from rock royalty (KISS, Alice in Chains, Disturbed, Smashing Pumpkins, Ministry) to hip-hop and pop history (Kanye West, Rihanna, R. Kelly), to songwriter giants like Paul Simon and the unmistakable blues of Buddy Guy.
He served as Chief Engineer at Chicago Trax Recording, became a Senior Producer/Engineer at Chicago Recording Company, and eventually opened his own private flagship facility — Stonecutter Studios, on South Clinton Street in Chicago.
Today, Chris works directly with a small, hand-selected roster of independent artists, bands, and producers. The mission is simple: take the music seriously, treat the artist with respect, and make records that stand up next to anything coming out of any major studio in the world.
